Family Trip to Atlanta

I decided a while back that it would be fun to go on one last family trip together before Baby Sims arrives in January. So last Saturday morning we packed up and headed over for some fun. The weekend couldn't start without a slight kink in the plans of course. Nothing seems to be easy around here these days! Friday night while Rusty was at a Ducks Unlimited banquet with Uncle Josh, She She and I decided it would be fun to sit down and watch a movie together after getting the kids down. Well, about 15 minutes into the movie, we hear Greer crying from his bed. We walked in to find vomit ALL over him and his bed! Unfortunately that was the first of many times that he got sick that night so I ended up being awake with him most of the night. After a LONG night, we were not sure if we should continue with our plans for our trip, but since I had already purchased our aquarium tickets, and G seemed to be feeling much better, we decided to go on with our plans!
Our first stop was the Atlanta Zoo...
And we had some very special friends meet us there...Mr. Sam and Jackson Brien! He and Ellie had so much fun together! We made sure he kept his distance from Greer and used lots of hand sanitizer for fear of spreading our germs!

Little G hung in there and enjoyed himself too!
After a fun afternoon we headed over to our hotel to check in, grabbed dinner, and took a ride on the Pink Pig at Lenox.

Then on Sunday morning, we got up bright and early for brunch at the Flying Biscuit and then headed to the aquarium...
They both loved the beluga whales...

Greer is not much into posing or smiling for the camera these days so this is really the best I can get of him...

Seeing all of the different kinds of fish, the penguins, and lots of other sea life was really neat, and they both loved it. I think our favorite was the dolphin show that we saw, but I have no pictures to document since they banned cameras at the show. We all LOVED the show!
The blankie made an appearance by the end of the day because we had one tired little guy!

Finally a smile!
We had an awesome trip together, and I am so glad we decided to go on with our plans. Fortunately no one got sick ON the trip. Ellie and I decided to wait until Sunday night to start throwing up, and then Rusty started on Monday! Lovely, but we are all well around here for now thank goodness!

Halloween

On Halloween, both Ellie and Greer had little parties at their school. I went to E's class first to watch them sing a few songs they have learned and have their party. Her class all dressed up...
My little bunny singing her songs...I don't know what made her decide on being a bunny, but she decided a while back and didn't change her mind..

After visiting E's class I headed over to see G's. Notice he is the only one without shoes. He would prefer to stay this way all of the time if possible!

Halloween night, and it was time to trick or treat! One of Ellie's friends from school, Grace, lives in our neighborhood and met up with us. She and Ellie were so cute togther and had a great time!

My little chick (with his hand-me-down pumpkin) didn't last very long with the trick or treating...
Sadly this was my only attempt at getting a picture of them together. He just doesn't cooperate at all with the camera these days, and with all of the chaos I decided it wasn't worth the fight!
After finishing his lollipop, he was done so I took him back home to help Daddy give out candy while Ellie and I hit up some more houses with Grace and her Mom.
After another lollipop, we headed for baths and bed because these 2 had a very exhausted Mama!

Pumpkin Patch, Tailgating, & Fall Festivals!

October was a busy month for us! We took the kids to the pumpkin patch in Lafayette, AL, and She She and Josh decided to come with us. Luckily it wasn't as hot as it was last year, and they had a great time!

Lollie and Poppy came up for the Auburn/Ole Miss game and took Ellie to the game. She had a blast as usual! And we also had some very fun guests at our tailgate, the Henigs! Greer was super excited to see his little friend, Mary Clark. We decided it would be best to dress him in his little tiger outfit that Poppy gave him since it was really cold out! The hat is the cutest part, but the boy won't have anything to do with anything on his head!
L

We also got to see Jimmy & Claire who we haven't seen in sooo long!

I don't think she was quite so sure of the little tiger, but he wouldn't leave her alone!
Excited that we had chicken fingers at the tailgate again!

And...we also got to go to a fun Fall Festival in Opelika the week before Halloween. Guess who was there...Aubie! G had nothing to do with him, but E was all about it as usual...
Again, the hat is the cutest part of his costume, but he would have absolutely nothing to do with it!
Playing catch up with the blog...more posts to come!

Thursdays

Thursdays around here are special. Every Thursday afternoon She She comes to pick one of the kids up, takes them home, and they get to spend the night with her and Uncle Josh. They get great quality, one-on-one time with their aunt and uncle, while the other one is getting great quality, one-on-one time with us! Greer had his turn a couple of weeks ago so Ellie stayed home with us, and we did lots of special things. We headed out to get some accessories for her Halloween costume, went to Louie's for dinner (this is what she ALWAYS picks), and then made Halloween cupcakes!

The kids (and us since it gives us a break) look forward to our special Thursdays every week and appreciate She She & Josh for all that they do to help us around here!

Stone Mountain

A few weekends ago, Daddy & Poppy were both out of town so Lollie decided we ought to take a trip. We decided to venture over to Stone Mountain, GA.
The trip got off to a very rocky start, but we ended up making the best of it, and these two had a blast! Just a quick recap...G came down with a low-grade fever on the Wednesday before but didn't have any other symptoms of anything being wrong. Well, while E was spending Thursday night with She She & Josh, she woke up with a fever in the middle of the night. Mom and I discussed our options and decided to push on to GA because we were going to have a very disappointed 3 year old if we didn't. Let's just say that by 1:00 a.m. Friday night Mom and I were both regretting our decision as we were cleaning up vomit from one of our beds in our hotel room and then again at 3:00 a.m. when we awoke to E telling us she had tee teed in the bed! After a very long night and a dose or two of Motrin, we all were up and out on Saturday morning!

The pictures speak for themselves. We had a great weekend, and by Sunday we were all totally exhausted!
