And He's Off...

It's official...Greer is crawling everywhere! I knew it would be soon but just didn't think it would be this soon. Only about 2 weeks behind when his big sissy started crawling actually. We spent last week down in Atmore, and that's where he mastered it. He is so proud and lovin' life. Mama...not so much! It's definitely a whole new world around here...one we are adjusting to I guess I should say. I find myself walking out of the room and leaving my 2.5 year old in charge. Me, "Ellie, please watch him and don't let him put anything in his mouth and don't leave any of your little toys on the floor for him to get to." Ellie, "ok, Mama." Scary, right?! It is so much different than when Ellie was this age because now we have 5,999 little, tiny toys, game pieces, etc etc of hers everywhere!!!! Again, quite the adjustment! There is always a different challenge and phase I have learned. However, he is a piece of cake compared to his sister. I laugh when mom friends of boys tell me to "just wait." I'm like, "are you serious...have you met Wild Woman?" I wanted to look back at old blog posts from Ellie at this age to see what I was feeding her at Greer's age because I couldn't for the life of me remember. As we were looking, we were cracking up at the things she was doing. She was WILD even at G's current age! I thought she was back then but didn't really have anything to compare her to. Boy do I now.

Look what she was up to at his age...

SOOO different! I need to be thanking my lucky stars!!

Here he is in action..."Hey Mom...I got my block and now I'm off to get into something..." something called a wasp!!! Eeeekkkk...scared me to death, but he's fine! While we were down in Atmore, I turned my head for .5 seconds, and he started whaling. I looked down, and he had a wasp in his hand!! OUCH! Poor baby! At least we know he's not allergic. I kept a close watch on him for hours after that.
Lovin' his newfound freedom... We had such a relaxing week doing a lot of this... Have I ever mentioned how obsessed I am with taking his picture? I think its because he just sits and poses for me which I am not used to. How do you narrow them down? Daddy even stayed down for the week to enjoy a nice break from the office. He and E did a lot of this together... Ellie and I have been eyeing these chairs at my parent's house for a few months now. She asked Poppy if she could have them for her new big girl room, and he said yes! They belong to my grandmother so they are super special to us... They are now in our possession along with a matching table, and I can't wait to get them painted. She is obsessed with them and keeps pulling them out to have a tea party!

We decided to head out to Poppy's cabin for New Years' Weekend and had a nice, relaxing time. We did a lot of swingin'... Wine drinkin'... Tryin' on every one of Poppy's hats, but this one was by far the best! S'mores eatin'...need I say more... Needless to say her "tummy hurt" after all of these marshmellows... Gotta have that chocolate... Hangin' out in the muggy, rainy weather... Gettin' spoiled by his Lollie... He loved the fact that she rocked him to sleep before every nap and at bedtime. I'm not so much lovin' it right now! She said, "Mandy, maybe he's just a rockin' baby?" Too bad I'm not a 'rockin' Mama!" We don't have time for that around here. Needless to say we had 2 naps today with screaming for 10 minutes before passing out. I hate hearing the screaming, but it'll pay off in the end! I love you Lollie, and no, I'm not torturing him...we're just working through the kinks after being spoiled for 10 days. :)More swingin'... Havin' our first rib!!! And savin' a little cornbread down in his bib for later... He is SO into what we are eating these days so Lollie handed him this without me knowing! He sucked on it for probably 20 minutes and was in heaven! And I wonder why he's so uninterested in baby food now! Seriously, he started pushing baby food away a couple of weeks ago so we're about to transition out of it. Ellie stopped at 9 months, and he's just a bit earlier. I bought him some peas tonight! Baths in the sink are always so fun... By the end of the weekend we had 2 zapped babies... This doesn't happen very often!

And now we're back home and settling back into our normal routine. She was thrilled to get back to Toys "R" Us aka our home!!!! We're going to have to build a shed out back to house all of this mess! It's out of control!!!! But they sure do enjoy it... Did I mention what a big girl she's becoming? I realized that there were about 4 different times today that I asked her not to do something, and she simply stopped and said, "ok Mommy" instead of throwing a tantrum and insisting on doing it. OMG! This is a major milestone! I am not going to decide that she is truly maturing until this continues for at least a week or two because by tomorrow we may be back to normal. Some of the things that come out of her mouth are absolutely hysterical (still) and so grown up too. Rusty and I just look at each other and laugh 99% of the time when she's around. Always the entertainer...

Looks like Reid and Greer on the same track, crawling and refusing baby food. Always something new! Adorable pics!
